10월 21일~25일 3일간 필립핀 마닐라에 다녀왔습니다.
캠프 아시아에 자청해서 마닐라 수몰지역과 이주민의 빈민지역을 돌아보았습니다.
아이들에게 티셔츠에 그림 그려주며 짧은 시간이나마 모든 것을 초월해서
녹색공감을 나누는 감동의 시간이었습니다. 힘들게 사는 아이들을 보며 몇 명에게
티 그림 그려주는 저의 행위가 무슨 의미가 있나 되돌아보는 반성의 시간이 되었고
디자인의 역할과 책임을 구하는 안목의 범위를 다시 생각하는 특별한 여행이 되었습니다.
어렵게 사는 난민들에게 혼자가 아니라는 공존의 훈기를 전하며 잠시라도
이해상관 없는 공생의 느낌을 전하려고 열심히 따라다녔습니다.

이철룡 목사님의 담담하고도 치열한 공존의 불꽃, 의지를 통감하며
공존의 세상을 위해 해야 할 일에 투신한 전사들에게 어떻게 힘과 도움이 될 수 있나
생각하는 계기가 되었습니다.
30일부터 COEX에서 시작되는 2012 저탄소녹색성장 박람회의 국민대학교 디자인대학원
그린디자인 전공과 동양미래대학교 시각디자인학과, 이화여자대학교 대학원, 한경대학교,
한세대학교(가나다 순) 전시공간에 CAMP Sewing Center의 난민촌 어머니들이
봉제기술을 배워 만든 몇 가지 결과물을 전시하려고 합니다.
서울에서 수집한 현수막을 재단해서 마닐라 캠프 봉제센터로 가지고 가서 만든 에코백,
igting 로고를 넣은 티셔츠, 각급학교 교복(1벌가격 1만원), 실크스크린 과정에서
우연히 만들어진 그림 등을 재활용, 나눔, 재기의 상징으로 알려서 빈부의 문제,
인류사회의 평화와 공존을 전하려는 목적입니다.

사단법인 캠프는 전세계 빈곤인구 60% 이상이 살고 있는 아시아를 대상으로 지속가능한
지역개발을 통한 빈곤해소를 목적으로 설립되었다.
'나눔과 섬김을 통한 변화, Sharing and Serving towards Transformation' 캠프는 재능 재화 시간
등의 가치를 아시아의 빈곤계층에게 상호존중과 배려의 관점에서 나눔과 섬김을 통해 함께 사는
아시아공동체로의 변화를 위해 활동하고 있다.
CAMP Asia Inc. is a non - government organization facilitating development and transformation
thru working with children, families and their communities as well. We aim to bring about
development thru facilitating initiatives to care and empower our chosen communities.
CAMP Asia Inc. was established in Seoul, South Korea in 2007 composed by local churches in Korea.
It was first started and organized as a local organization in the Philippines named as “Withnews”
which provided internet news for disabled and poor people in the Philippines.
Its outreach program continued up to 2009 then on January 25, 2010,
it was registered in Security Exchange Commission as CAMP Asia Inc.
?We are aiming to bring holistic programs to improve the living status of the poor people;
to help Filipino in need to transform their inadequate living environment; to establish social welfare
programs like educational medical and livelihood project; to organize and empower the poor
community to engage in volunteerism in implementing charity service; to do networking in government,
non-government, people’s organization and Christian organization for resource mobilization and human development.
Through establishment of Social Enterprise, we alleviate poverty and promote sustainable community
building initiating in Towerville relocation and resettlement area in Bulacan, Philippines.
For over two years of helping Towerville community. CAMP Asia Inc. saw the limited opportunities
of the people to provide their families a better future. Hence, CAMP Asia Inc. thought of a way to help ease the
community’s current situation by coordinating with the group of Korean experts to formulate a newer
and better strategy to alleviate poverty through social enterprise program.
The Social Enterprise – Sewing Project is a training workshop and a workplace to generate income.
This however, on the latter part can empower and develop community’s sense of ownership towards sustainability.

캠프의 ‘사회적기업을 통한 아시아 빈곤해소 모델개발’ 프로젝트의 첫번째 작품인 필리핀 타워빌
캠프봉제센터는 필리핀의 수도 마닐라에서 40여킬로미터 동북쪽에 위치한 불라칸주 산호세델몬테시
타워빌 5만여명 6천여 세대의도시빈민 이주민 지역에 위치하고 있다.
지난 2011년 7월 15일 문을 연 캠프봉제센터는 40여명의 지역 여성가장들이 기술교육을 배우고
현재 본격적인 제품 생산을 진행하며 희망을 일구어 나가고 있습니다.

Igting
"Igting" is a Tagalog word meaning "to tighten, give tension, strengthen".
Igting is the brand name of casual wears produced by the members of CAMP Sewing Center in Towerville,
Bulacan in the Philippines. Towerville is a resettlement area for families
who had lost their houses by floods, fires or demolitions.
