                   <강사>
                   사라 존슨(Sarah Johnson)는 [re]design 과 WEmake의
                   설립자이자 대표이며, 지속가능한 디자인의 최전방에서,
                   강의, 워크샵, 책 출간, 제품 디자인, 전시 기획 등을 해오고
                   있다. Royal Festival Hall, NESTA(National Endowment for
                   Science Technology and the Arts: 과학기술 및 예술을
                   위한 국가기금), 바비칸 센터(Barbican Centre)와 같은
                   영국예술단체, 영국문화원과 UKTI(영국투자청) 같은
                   정부기관, 콘란, 소니, 레고, 셀프리지 등과 같은 기업체와
                   일하고 있다. 중국에서 '기후변화'를 주제로 한 전시를
                   기획한 바 있으며, 최근 영국에서 '지속가능 디자인'을 주제로
                   엿새 동안 열린 환경디자인대회 'Greengaged
                   (www.greengaged.com)'의 공동 개발자이기도 하다.
                   환경디자인 분야에서의 뛰어난 업적으로 업계는 물론
                   버킹엄궁과 수상실 등의 영국정부기관들로부터 높은 평가를
                   받고 있다.

                   <강사>
                   지로 그룬트만(Gero Grundmann)은 런던에 위치한 디자인
                   회사 'Studio Bec'을 운영하는 전방위 디자이너다.
                   특히 커뮤니케이션 디자인과 인클루시브 디자인(Inclusive
                   design) 분야에서 폭넓은 활동을 해왔다.
                   영국 유수 디자인 학교에서도 강의를 하고 있으며,
                   노르위치 미술대학(Norwich University College of the Arts)
                   을 위해 사회와 환경의 지속가능성에 초점을 둔 디자인
                   석사과정 프로그램을 공동으로 개발했다.
                   왕립예술학교(Royal College of Art)에서
                   ‘커뮤니케이션 미술과 디자인 (Communication Art and
                   Design)’ 석사 학위를 취득했으며 Inclusive Design 활동을
                   집중적으로 하고 있는 왕립예술학교의 헬렌 함린 연구소
                   (Helen Hamlyn Centre)의 연구원으로 활동하여,
                   현재까지 'Inclusive Design Challenge' 프로그램에
                   참여하고 있다.

                   <강사>Sarah Jones – Director of ReDesign
                   She is an entrenpreneurial, enthusiastic communicator
                   with a passion for strategic design and its potential to
                   make positive social and environmental changes in
                   the world.
                   As founding director of [re]design and WEmake,
                   Sarah has been at the forefront of sustainable design
                   for the last 5 years. She has lectured, run workshops,
                   published books, designed products and curated
                   exhibitions with a diverse range of partners including
                   great British institutions – Royal Festival Hall, NESTA
                   and the Barbican, leading companies Conran, Sony,
                   LEGO and Selfridges, and worked overseas on
                   high-profile projects with the British Council and UKTI.
                   Sarah's pioneering role in UK business has been
                   recognised with industry and establishment accolades
                   including invites to Buckingham Palace and Number 10.

                   <강사>Gero Grundmann
                   He is a multidisciplinary designer and translator
                   with a strong interest in inclusive design.
                   He runs the London-based design office Studio
                   Bec–Design Communication Translation and develops
                   products with his wife and partner, product designer
                   Julia Lohmann. Gero teaches at a number of
                   UK design schools and has co-authored a new
                   MA design programme for Norwich University College
                   of the Arts, focusing on social and environmental
                   sustainability. He holds an MA in Communication Art
                   and Design from the Royal College of Art and
                   a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of
                   Linguists. He is a former Research Associate of

                    Urban renewal is the process of re-imagining places
                    like, residential areas, commercial areas and open
                    spaces, where the symptoms of social or economic
                    decline are shown. Most renewals have been
                    regarded as an economical or physical renewal.
                    Around the 1980s, the terminology was used to mean
                    the revitalization of a community, an improvement
                    to the quality of life. Since the 1990s, the interest in
                    social or cultural urban renewal has been increased.

                 The 2008 Public Design International Symposium
                    entitled “Space Renewal and Sustainable Design”
                    professes cultural and ecological renewal of urban
                    spaces. Sustainability has become the mission of the
                    world as the Korean Governments have declared lately
                    a low-carbon green growth policy as a national vision.
                    However, to get sustainability, local conditions and
                    community’s lives should be carefully considered.
                    This means that trying to renew a city without a cultural
                    approach and process may not be attainable.

                 The symposium will focus on an approach or method
                    of searching for the value. The symposium will invite
                    speakers from organizations that have made efforts to
                    create a cultural and sustainable city to learn about
                    their methods. Through learning about their experiences
                    we may reduce trial and error and obtain an alternative
                    plan suitable for each area.
