돌고래의 꿈

제돌이를 응원하기 위해 만든 '제돌이의 꿈' 심볼
2013년 먹이를 쫓다 그물에 걸린 돌고래 제돌이는 3년 동안 서울대공원에서 돌고래쇼를 했다.
방사하기 전 제돌이를 만날 기회가 생겨, 티셔츠에 돌고래 그림을 그려 제돌이에게 보여주었더니 그림의 돌고래 입 부분에 입맞춤하는 게 아닌가! 제돌이가 돌고래 그림을 본 것이냐고 조련사에게 물었더니 "아마도 알아보고 호감을 보인 것 같다"고 대답했다.
10여 년 넘게 티셔츠에 돌고래를 그려왔던 나로서는 마음과 몸에 파도가 치듯 남다른 감회를 느꼈다.
현재 제돌이는 자신의 고향 제주 바다에서 헤어졌던 무리와 다시 만나 파도를 가르며 달리고 있다.

In 2013, a dolphin named Jedol was caught at Jeju and Jedol had to participate in the dolphin show in Seoul National Park for three years. Before the release, I had a chance to meet Jedol. I've painted dolphins on t-shirts and showed it to Jedol as a gift and what a surprise! Jedol came and kissed dolphin's mouth on my drawing. I asked the trainer whether Jedol has recognized painting. Trainer told me "Jedol seems like recognized it and expressed good feeling." For me, I had been drawing dolphins
on T-shirts for more than a decade,
so overwhelmed. Now Jedol is back in the hometown sea of Jeju Island, where he meets the separated groups again and runs through the sea.
